The border control post at the Port of Ålesund is located inside the ISPS area at Tyrholm & Farstad's terminal on Flatholmen – immediately adjacent to the container terminal and the chilled and frozen storage facilities.

When importing products of animal origin or other foodstuffs subject to control from countries outside the EU/EEA, the goods must be presented for inspection at a veterinary border control post – also known as a BCP (Border Control Post) or BIP (Border Inspection Post).

The post at Flatholmen is approved for a wide range of controlled product categories.
